Mr. Meow's Kitchen

Date: September - November 2025
Role: Fabrication Lead

Skills: Fabrication, Game/Interactives Design

Mr. Meow's Kitchen is a collaborative cooking game created by myself and 6 other students at UT Austin as a semester-long project. The game features two physical interactive kitchenettes with sensors, and a digital game projected on a screen, and utilizes motion tracking to track player movement. Team must race against each other to cook a "Stargazy pie" by collecting ingredients from around the room and preparing them at their kitchenette.

Being the fabrication lead, it was my responsibility to design the physical kitchenettes that would be used in this game, build a cardboard prototype for testing, and finally, organize and lead fabrication in the shop. We built the kitchenettes out of plywood, with a small area under the main surface for our microcontrollers and sensors, oven doors cut out of the front, and a decorative top with cat ears to match the artistic direction.

We playtested this project with our classmates, who had a lot of fun running around collecting ingredients, chopping and frying them on the kitchenettes, and trying to bake a Stargaze pie before their opponents!
